Priority 1
There are a lot of "good things" that can be done in the Ukraine, but we are committed to placing "sharing great news" as our number one priority. We have seen the tears of many people as they simply find out that they can be forgiven.
In churches
Canadian preachers are very welcome in Ukrainian churches. At each and every service, there are people waiting to commit their lives to Christ. It doesn't matter what is preached during a service, they come determined to receive Jesus.
In stadiums
There are also opportunities for crusade style evangelism. Ukrainians love a great celebration and when something big is going on, they come out in droves. I was in Krivoy Rog on Independence Day in 2004 and this once atheistic city asked the largest church there to organize the entire celebration! The event was filled with the good news message in song and dance. Keep in mind they would have been put in prison for this 20 years ago!
In the villages
Despite great efforts from all involved. There are still some 10,000 towns and villages with literally no church whatsoever. Church planting is a very high priority and with the Holy Spirit's help, there will be a church in every town and village.
It all begins with the simple preaching of the word. A few new believers will form the new church. A $600 gift will secure a missionary will stay in a village 6 months to establish a church and train a local pastor. Your church might consider adopting a church. What a great Christmas present for a family to give. A church planting gift in the name of a friend or family member.
